The British Council - the UK's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations - unveils a new sculpture, The White Horse by Mark Wallinger, outside its headquarters on The Mall in London, as it announces £7 million of extra investment in its work to connect the best of the UK's creative talent with the world. The statue, made of marble and resin, is a life-size representation of a thoroughbred racehorse. It has been created using state-of the-art technology in which a live horse was scanned using a white light scanner, producing an accurate representation of the animal. It will be on display for two years, before touring overseas. Photo credit : Stephen Simpson/LNP
